S. G. O. S-8x50
| Das hier dargestellte "S-8x50" Peil-Fernrohr wurde von der "Société Générale d'Optique" (S.G.O.) in Frankreich laut Beschriftung 1937 hergestellt. Es hat ein Fadenkreuz mit horizontalen Teilstrichen. Die graue Lackierung über einer rotbraunen Rostschutzfarbe lässt einen Einsatz bei der Marine annehmen.
Das 8x50 ist eien Hälfte des Fernglases 8x50, bei dem 2 Einzelfernrohre auf einer Grundplatte nebeneinander montiert waren. Das Fernrohr hat an der linken Seite einen Verschlussdeckel für eine Trockenpatrone, rechts oben am Gehäuse eine Montageeinrichtungen für eine Stirnstütze, eine Befestigungsplatte unten sowie einen aufgeschraubten Metallsteg mit Knopf, welche zur Befestigung mit der anderen Hälfte und der Sockelplatte dienten (vgl. S:R.P.I. 10x50). Die runde Gehäuseform deutet auf ein Porro-2-System hin. Wie bei vielen Französischen Militägläsern wird auch hier das Gehäuse Okular-seitig mit einem Überwurfring verschlossen bzw. geöffnet. Das dicke Okular ist mit einer Dioptrienskala versehen, dessen große Zahlen in die Kreuz-Riffelung des Fokussierungteil graviert wurden. Sie geht von +2 bis -5. Die Gummi- oder Lederaugenmuschel fehlt. |
The "S-8x50" targeting telescope depicted here was made by the French company "Société Générale d'Optique" (S.G.O.) in 1937 according to its inscription. The reticle has crosshairs with some horizontal dividing lines. The greyish paint over a reddish-brown anti-rust primer hints to a naval use. The 8x50 is one half of the 8x50 binoculars, in which two individual telescopes were mounted next to each other on a base plate. The monocular telescope has a cover for a dry cartridge on the left side, a mounting arm for a forehead support on the top right of the housing, a mounting plate at the bottom and a screwed-on metal bridge with a knob, which both served to attach it to the base plate and the the other half.(cf. S:R.P.I. 10x50). The round housing lets assume it contains a porro 2 system. Similar to other French glasses the housing is closed with a retainer ring which allows opening the housing from the ocular side. The thick eyepiece comes with a dioptre scale having big letters engraved into the diagonally knurled focusing part. The scale ranges from +2 to -5. The rubber or leather eyecup is missing. |
| Das 8x50 ist 23cm lang und weigt 3057g. Die Objektivlinse ist in der 62mm Fassung ca. 22m nach innen versetzt, so dass die Objektivfassung eine Sonnenblende bildet. Der Tubus selbst verbreitert sich von 55mm auf 63mm im Durchmesser. Das 68mm hohe Prismengehäuse hat einen ca. 77mm Durchmesser. Der Okulartubus ist 47mm, der Fokussierungsteil 52mm im Durchmesser. Der Augenmuschelhaltering um die 20mm Okularlinse misst 44mm. | The 8x50 is 23cm i nlength and weighs 3057g. The objective lens is recessed by 22mm into the 62mm objective frame – thus the frame makes up a sunshade as well. The objective tube increases from a 55mm to a 53mm diameter. The 68mm tall prism housing has a 77mm diameter. The ocular tube is 47mm, the focusing part 52mm, and the end ring once holding the eyecup is 44mm in diameter. The eyepice has a 20mm lens. |
